Program Mission Statement


The criminal justice program is designed to graduate students with an understanding of its structure and process, including personnel and historical foundation. The program seeks to educate pre-service as well as in-service students with the appropriate scholarship that emphasize community, governmental and global partnerships in resolving the complexities of public policy, criminality, crime prevention, and control. Graduates are prepared with extensive research and problem solving skills needed for analytical thinking and decision making.as they become "change agents" within the system.

1. The student will describe the functions and roles of each component of the criminal justice system.

2. The student will identify the fundamental elements of criminal law.

3. The student will identify the major criminological theories associated with crime causation.

4. The student will evaluate, analyze and conduct research in the area of criminal justice.

Description of the expected use of results that will be addressed in the 2014-2015 academic year:
Tutoring opportunities will be offered to students who do not meet expectations, as well as re-testing opportunities. Peer mentoring opportunities will be created between students who “exceed expectations” and paired with students who “falls below expectations.”
The program will continue to require students to submit papers to TURNITIN.
